I am a 52-year-old programming project leader with type 2 diabetes. I need to lose 75 pounds as quick as I can, without doing anything that will be unhealthy in itself. These pounds have to stay off permanently, so no yo-yo is allowed. It's not so much the weight, per se, but the "visceral fat" that is around my waist. It's just that this fat seems to be the last to go. I'm going to be working on the "Couch to 5K" (aka C25K) program as a way to get more exercise. My diet is already pretty tight, following the Dr. Bernstein "Diabetes Solution" philosophy, which connects carbs to blood sugar levels. Keep the carbs down, and the BSL will stay down too. One replaces the place of carbs in the diet with protein and fats (all that's left). That conflicts with some "common knowledge", but "What if it's all a big fat lie?"
